Nanuet FD Receives Grant from FM Global
With the grant, Nanuet FD plans to invest in two laptops to help with fire preparations
Made up of only local volunteers, the Nanuet Fire Department gives back a lot to the community they live in and serve. However, this time, FM Global is the one giving back to the fire department.
As one of the largest commercial property insurers, FM Global just gave a $1,520 fire prevention grant to the Nanuet FD.
Fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide; because of this, FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the globe over the past 35 years.

"At FM Global, we strongly believe the majority of property damage is preventable, not inevitable," said Michael Spaziani, manager of the fire prevention grant program. "Far too often, inadequate budgets prevent those organizations working to prevent fire from being as proactive as they would like to be. With additional financial support, grant recipients are actively helping to improve property risk in the communities they serve."
“We definitely appreciate this grant from FM Global,” said Vincent Pacella, Commissioner of the Nanuet Fire Department. “We’re going to put it toward buying two new laptops to help with fire preparations in our vehicles; one will be in the Chief’s car and the other in one of the fire trucks.”

These laptops will assist firefighters with pre-fire planning to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings. With this information, the firefighters will be able to help the fire department respond in an emergency situation.
“We’re happy to do this and support them with this grant,” said John Antola, Senior Account Engineer at FM Global. Locally, the company has awarded grants to a number of New York-based organizations as well as national, state, regional and local organizations that best demonstrate a need for funding.
This isn’t a new thing for FM Global as they give out about 80-90 grants every quarter as part of their fire prevention program.
“In recent years, they gave grants to Nyack Fire Department and to the arson unit of the Rockland County Sheriff Department,” said Pacella.
