Nanuet Lions Looking for More Spots for Donation Drop-off Boxes

One of the charities the Nanuet Lions supports are those dealing with Hearing and Vision. They work with the Association for the Visually Impaired, Guiding Eyes, White Cane and many others.

One of their programs is the Eyes Wear Recycling Program. They have drop off boxes and reuse the donated glasses by giving them to those who need them. Hearing Aides are also collected at these boxes. These drop-off boxes are at several specific locations. These locations are listed below.

However, at the last board meeting, Lion President Barbara Chuck delivered bad news related to their drop-off box locations. 

"We lost Potter's Cafe, Nanuet Vision World and Nanuet Lutheran Brethren Church," she said. "We need more spots for boxes." 

A few new people invited by current Lions were able to offer their offices as new drop-off locations as soon as they get a glasses box. 

These locations are important because of the success they've gotten. At a previous meeting Lion Gerry Jamieson announced that their Eye Glasses Recycling Program collected 184 pairs in July and 177 in August making the year-to-date amount 361 glasses. The club has collected over 4,000 since it started this eyewear recycling program.
