After withstanding harsh weather, fast winds and traffic pollution, some of the flags at the Clarkstown Korean War Veterans Memorial Park are now worn and torn. “The Rotary Club of Nanuet has collected 10 flags and is going to give them to the Korean War Veterans for the park at Route 59 and Middletown Road,” said Zevola. “We … turn them over to Rudy Damonti (and the Clarkstown Parks & Recreation) who maintains the park.”

The Rotary originally wanted to donate the flags in November, but Zevola said he wanted to officially do it at one of their meetings so the rotary would be correctly recognized.

“I want to thank the rotary club. There are groups out there that want to help veterans and the community,” said Zevola.

“They’re for use for the park at the four corners, the Korean War Memorial park,” said Maiorano. “They asked us for the flags and we obliged.”

Damonti said that the Town of Clarkstown and several other organizations maintain the park under the town's guidance.

"The Korean War Veterans accept the flags from the Nanuet Rotary on behalf of Clarkstown," said Damonti. "The town would have had to pay for those flags. That's a town park that was designated as a Korean War Veterans Memorial."

“The ones we have out there at the perimeter of the park are cotton,” said Gregory. “The ones the rotary club are donating are Nylon.” He added that the Nylon material will be better at handling the wear and tear of wind, weather elements and

“It feels very nice, really good,” said Liebert on donating these flags. The Nanuet Rotary lines Main Street of Nanuet with American flags on certain patriotic holidays. “When we buy flags, the more we buy, the more of a discount we get. We had extra flags leftover so we are donating them.”
