Tonight: Prayer Vigil For 2-Year Mark Of Haiti Earthquake

The vigil is from 4-5:30 p.m. at Konbit Neg Lakey and Mass is at 7 p.m. at St Joseph Church

Time flies for Renold Julien, Chairman of the Rockland County Haiti Relief Campaign.

He's referring to the 2-year anniversary of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti in on Jan. 12, 2010. The devastation of the earthquake left 300,000 individials dead, thousands injured and two million homeless. As Haitians struggle to rebuild and start over, Rocklanders—who lost loved ones or still have family and friends in Haiti—came together to assist the Haitian relief efforts. Thus, the Rockland County Haiti Relief Campaign was created.

“Today, on the two-year anniversary of the devastating earthquake that rattled Haiti, we mourn and pray for those that were lost in that terrible event," said Senator David Carlucci. "In the immediate aftermath of this tragedy, we saw the very best of human nature with an outpouring of support from millions of people throughout the world.  The American people, and the people of the State of New York, rose to the occasion and offered their support in ways never imagined."
