Tonight: Rockland Relay for Life Kicks Off

Stop by the Comfort Inn and Suites in Nanuet from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday

Most everybody has heard of the Relay For Life. There will be a rally Thursday evening at the in Nanuet to officially kick off the 2012 Relay For Life of Rockland County.

Relay for Life raises much needed funds for lifesaving cancer research and services for patients and their families.

"The rally is an opportunity for individuals interested in forming a team of family, friends, or coworkers to pick up a team packet and find out more about what we have planned for the 2012 event," said Jennifer Muir, Director of Special Events for the Hudson Valley Region's American Cancer Society. "The Relay For Life of Rockland County, to be held on June 9-10 at Rockland Community College, brings the community together in the fight against cancer to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost and to fight back against a disease that impacts us all."

At relay for life, people and teams of people walk the track and there are family-friendly activities and entertainment throughout the night.

Anyone interested in forming a team, registering as a cancer survivor for the Survivor Lap, or volunteering on the planning committee can visit online at www.relayforlife.org/rocklandny or contact Muir directly at 845-440-2521 or jennifer.muir@cancer.org for more information about how they can get involved.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
