Rockland County Legislature

The legislature open its 7 p.m. meeting with a public hearing on “Best Value Award Methodology” for purchase contracts.  The proposed local law is based on state amended in January 2013, which allows local government to look at other criteria beside price when purchasing goods and services. The legislature will consider action on any budget vetoes issued by the county executive.

The legislature will vote on a request to amend the 2013 Capital Budget to include replacement of the Samsondale Ave Bridge in West Haverstraw as a capital project. The bridge over the CSX Railroad tracks has been cited during state inspections for structural defects. The replacement cost estimated at $3.6 million would be offset by $2,164,000 in matching federal aid and possibly by other funding the county department is applying for.  Legislators will also vote on joining 18 other New York counties in legal action to recoup Medicaid Overburden Payments from the state.

Nanuet Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party

Join chamber members some holiday networking. There is no cost to attend. Purchase what you want and Growler & Gill will donate a portion of the evening's sales to the Chamber. The party begins at 7 p.m. at Growler & Gill on Route 59 in Nanuet. More information on membership can be found here.

Nanuet Board of Education

The Nanuet Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Nanuet High School and vote on a Memorandum of Agreement with the Nanuet Principals Association from July 31, 2013 through June 30, 2014. The discussion on the Common Core Standards and Student Achievement at Barr Middle School will be continued. The board will vote on a $19,000 agreement with KSQ Architects for assistance with design documents for the district wide Solar Energy Power Purchase Agreement Project. Solar arrays will be placed on the roofs of the Miller, Barr and Nanuet Senior High schools.
