Ring In The New Year With The Rockland Chorale Society
Where: Living Christ Church, 151 S. Broadway, S. Nyack
When: Saturday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m.
Cost: $20 general admission and$15 students and seniors
Description: The concert, originally scheduled for December, was postponed due to snow. The Rockland County Choral Society will perform seasonal selections lead by long-time conductor Philip Hagemann including the spiritual “Rise Up,” “Shepherd,” and “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen.” The Handbell Choir of Pearl River United Methodist Church will also perform and is lead by Pamela Gunning, soprano, Alison Buchanan, West Point organist and choirmaster Craig S. David Masengill At The Borderline
Where: New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 200 Congers Road, New City
When: Sunday, January 19, doors open at 1:30 p.m. concert begins at 2 p.m.
Cost: Admission is $20 per person, $15 for Borderline or Pinewoods members and attendees should bring a cold potluck dessert dish to share with four other people.
Description: A superstar in the world of folk music, David Massengill writes and sings his songs in the traditional blues style as taught to him by his mentor, the late great Dave Van Ronk. He is an accomplished musician on both, the guitar as well as his original instrument, the mountain dulcimer. His signature song is "The Great American Dream." Westchester's Larry Kolker, a blues style singer/songwriter and guitarist will be opening the show. Find registration details here.
