This Weekend: Benefit Events For United Hospice, Wounded Warriors

Monster Moonlight Bowling Fundraiser For United Hospice

Where: Hi-Tor Lanes, 40 South Route 9W, West Haverstraw

When: Friday, Sept. 20 from 9:30 p.m. to midnight

Cost: $25 per person

Description: Admission of $25 includes shoes, games and ball. Costumes are encouraged and a prize will be awarded for best dressed. History In Your Own Backyard

Where:   Participants in the tour of historic cemeteries in Clarkstown and Orangetown will meet at Casa Del Mare Restaurant in Nyack 

When: Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cost: $64 for Historical Society of Rockland County members and $69 for non-members. Cost includes lunch.

Description: This trip will include visits to the following cemeteries: Snyder, Mount Moor, Old Clarkstown Reformed Church, Greenbush, Tappan Dutch Reformed, Rockland (Sparkill), Oak Hill, and Old Mountain Road. A knowledgeable guide will board the bus at each stop, presenting the history of each cemetery and some notable people buried at each cemetery.  Although guests will be disembarking at two or three cemeteries, these stops will not involve a lot of walking. Space is limited and pre-paid reservations are required. 

Fourth Annual Friends And Family Charity BBQ Festival

Where: James A. Anderson American Legion Post 1199, 61 Hunt Road, Orangeburg

When: Saturday, Sept. 21 from 12 to 6 p.m.

Cost:  Admission is $35 in advance, $45 at the door for adults over 21. Admission for 11 to 21 year olds is $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and free for kids 10 and under.

Description: Six hours of live music with barbecue food, all the beer you can drink, a variety of raffles, along with kid-friendly food, drinks, and activities. In addition, you will be able to witness our 4th annual amateur rib-smoking contest. All the proceeds from this year's Charity BBQ are going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
