How do we know that Michaels, like Target before it, are not doing this themselves to get everyoneRead More to give up what little freedom we have left? Maybe News12 will investigate? No, that's right... News12 is just a glorified police blotter.

Just so everyone knows, chip and pin would not prevent a breach like this, it would just make itRead More difficult to reproduce a physical card. The real answer is prevent breaches like this is uninterrupted end to end encryption between the PED/swipe and the processor. So many retailers allow the credit card data to flow within their respective networks to be decrypt/re-encrypt 1 or more times paving way to the methods used by malicious folks to harvest that data while in the clear, such as memory scrapers.

It is becoming obvious that it is time to cut up credit cards and go to cash.

With prices rising in all industries, I call it the disease of liberal Democrats! And it is theRead More disease that will wipe out civilization!
mark April 18, 2014 at 08:23 am
When taxes are imposed on various industries then to stay in business the prices increase on theRead More consumer! Obamacare , gas taxes, payroll taxes, tolls, the proposed soda and candy tax , your tobacco tax is 75% of what the product really costs! Commercial Property tax increases! Do you people see what's going on here? This country is being destroyed by the Democrats! It is starting to resemble The a Soviet Union! We should change the name of this country to the USSA!

You have made a great choice by selecting South Mountain Studio, LLC. Nadine Moroch Reicher, aRead More graphic designer with South Mountain Studio, has helped us produce our first ever newsletter, On the Scene, celebrating the two year growth of Worldwide Community First Responder! Nadine’s experience and expertise has been invaluable to us, and we are extremely grateful.

IThe new Mrs Green's in Tarrytown does not seem to be doing well. Should have been a Trader Joe's!
Bob Zahm March 29, 2014 at 12:14 am
@Bruce Apar - would certainly consider it if that was true, but having been here only for 12 years,Read More I'd never qualify.
Nora Mackenzie March 29, 2014 at 05:09 pm
I'm very sorry that Mrs. Green's did not consider expanding into Chappaqua when we really need aRead More grocery story, not a Walgreens. Yes, we can go into Mt. Kisco but they made a mess of the expansion in that store.
Shawn McDonald March 20, 2014 at 09:31 am
Just what we need, another chain outfit to help put the local, family-owned diners and bakeries outRead More of business.
rex merrins March 20, 2014 at 12:21 pm
its more like a cafe than a bakery I like rockland bakery. I LIKE the neighborhood bakeriesRead More rockland and even the bakeies in stop and shop and shop rite. Fairway dose not have a good bakery I dont even shop at the shops its very boring mall in comparison to Palisades Garden State Plaza and Bergen town center
Randy Sussman March 20, 2014 at 04:55 pm

I no longer patronize restaurants that I went to each morning, Strawberry Place, for example. IRead More stopped using the Nyack library. I use the library in Nanuet or Piermont. The parking meter is costing Nyack business place a great deal of lost patronige
willie 6 March 18, 2014 at 11:06 am
Nyack Village seems to use parking revenue for Village expenses. until they figure out a way to beRead More accommodating to visitors ,they will continue to lose visitors. Beware of those RUDE NPA agents.

Has anyone looked at the sidewalks in front of these establishments on Main Street, especially theRead More eating and drinking venues. The streets are disgusting. Store owners need to be required to sweep/cleanup in front of their places at least three times a day: morning, noon, and evening. It appears that the sweeping is done only in the mornings when they open, if then. The accumulation of cigarette butts, burnt matches, cups, general litter, etc., is enough to cause a person to gag. Perhaps those establishments can start there. The sidewalks in the front of these stores rival the garbage you see on Manhattan streets. I always wonder how people can sit and eat in the sidewalk outdoor cafe setups with the litter and garbage under foot and within eye sight. 'Beautify Nyack' should begin with clean up Nyack first!

@emr...daily basis?
Paula Antolini March 13, 2014 at 01:14 pm
Sir....Perhaps emr did not mean that literally...but I did find that there is concern by utilityRead More companies about aging systems in older cities, "what to do about aging natural gas mains, many of them in difficult-to-access locations in older urban areas, which have deteriorated and are prone to leaking".....here's one NY example: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/energy/2014/03/140312-east-harlem-explosion-natural-gas-leaks-risk/
Theresa Flora March 11, 2014 at 02:25 pm
jo, we're very much outnumbered here in NY--by liberals and those looking for a handout. The cityRead More just elected de Blasio, and look what he's doing to charter schools. By the way, the powerful teachers union endorsed him. And I believe Cuomo will be re-elected. NY is a dysfunctional, overtaxed, nanny/welfare state, and sadly, I think the only solution is to get out. Leave the liberals with their mess.
brandie March 11, 2014 at 03:04 pm
Theresa as for Cuomo i think you may be wrong, he is in trouble and just doesn,t know it yet and theRead More only thing that will keep him is who the Republicans run against him. Astorino is not going to beat him and i do not know of any one else who could at this time.
Theresa Flora March 11, 2014 at 07:30 pm
Just like when no one thought Obama could get re-elected.

The problem with NYS is that it does not provide any incentives for local Planning or Zoning BoardsRead More to approve the very simple applications that come before them for approval or denial, or on the applications that are to set up, expand, or bring into the area a business of any kind. NYS is the most ANTI BUSINESS state you can live in, and I am not saying this to take any digs at the current Political Party that is in POWER, or at the economic goals that perhaps our current Governor is trying to achieve. NYS has been a very tough state to want to risk opening up a business in, whether you are that small shop keeper, or that business that can hire more than 50 people. NYS has always paid a blind eye and a deaf ear towards all request to help the small main street merchant wanting to either take a chance or survive. Never have I ever been exposed to a conversation held with a level of Government that is above both the local or County level, where when I got off the phone I felt like I could accomplish going forward with my dream to open up a business in NYS. NYS dead last for a reason! NYS JUST CAN"T AFFORD BEING DEAD LAST!

As a Small Business Owner in Westchester I'm disappointed ,as the 2 Parties bicker about who's faultRead More it is ..the problem get's worse by the day...the solution is in OUR HANDS !.. BUY LOCAL!,and whenever possible BUY AMERICAN !..As long as everyone longs for the Cheap Foreign crap, and flocks to the Big Box Discount Stores that deal in it,this country will never Recover..go ahead Shop online, give it to Amazon or whoever.. and you wonder why you can't find a Job? or the one you have doesn't pay what it used to..look into Income inequality..and maybe check out Robert Reich's documentary on the subject..We as Americans need to take responsibility for our Actions and the Consequences of those actions..We can't keep looking for SOMEONE ELSE OR THE GOVT to fix our Problems..Can't you see how Futile an Endeavor that is ? ..if this Country is to be Fixed it has to come from Mainstreet USA..not Congress or the White House, regardless of the governing Party whether they be Democrat, Republican,Independent ect..It was people in my area passing by my Store on their way to Walmart,Target, the Internet ect that made for a lousy Holiday Shopping Season,Not a republican or a Democrat.

Premier fitness was "my home away from home". I will miss it terribly. Also, I will missRead More all the nice people I met there; although many of them are now in NYSC. It's nice to see the familiar faces. Even the cleaning people are the same...Still, it's not the same...Ellen and Brian, you put up a good fight and I wish you the best.

i hope they get sued and and fined for a law suit for all their bs sales and 12 yrs of horribleRead More downfall service so glad to finally see the lights off forever same goes for that sales team.
