Michael Pointing of United Water addresses the Orangetown Town Board May 21, 2013.

I was just clarifying what the issues conference is. People can draw their own conclusions fromRead More there. To be fair, if you read the Patch report from the meeting May 14, you will see that it Diviny asked Stewart to invite United Water to address the town board so their side of the issue could be heard.

Give me a break Ryan....they want to stop it....and for the wrong reasons. Where will the waterRead More come from to develop all that property Otown purchased from NYS. This so called report by George Potompic was paid for to reach the conclusion he got. This has nothing to do with the cost and purity of water. All to do with expansion of the Hasidim. Pure and simple.

As a point of clarification, the issues conference would not stop the project. It would examine,Read More among other things, if it is necessary. Requesting a closer look at the project is not the same thing as calling for it to be stopped.

I like this bill with all the training that goes into these special K-9's it makes sense to make itRead More a stiffer crime.

Unfortunately John this has little to do with cost or purity of water and more about the HsudsRead More expanding. Guys like Diviny from OTown readly admit it, willing to give up the supply if water for their grandchildren rather than go after the politicians in their party who cow tow to the Hasids. Consider Divinys comments another PATCH. artice today. "If we don't take into consideration the growth in Ramapo and what the desal plant will allow to happen there, it's a disservice to our kids and grandkids," Diviny said. "If we vote against the issues conference, basically we are green lighting Ramapo. I think we can't do it. Also, the residents of Orangetown that have reached out to me want the issues conference. I haven't gotten one text, one email or one call form a resident who doesn't want it." DISGRACEFUL AND COWARDLY.

We need to increase our supply of water just to catch up with our growth over the past 50 years. TheRead More Hudson is the most abundant source we have and that is where the new supply will come from. The only reason we now need an issues conference is to debunk the missinformation put out by enviro groups ( their bought and paid for study ) and to give polititions who are afraid of these groups something to hide behind when the plant finally gets approved. Hopefully this plant will be completed befor a drought like the one over the western US hits us. Build the desal plant now.

My water bill is about $500 a year. My cell phones are $1,450 a year. My cable is $2,000 a year. MyRead More electric is $4,000 a year. I can live without my cell phones, my cable and even electric. I cannot live without water. I do not want to limit the amount of water I have access to, I want to increase it and since it costs only $500 a year there is room for an increase. Even if the cost of water doubled, and it won't it would still be less than my cell phones. Bring on Desal. The more air and water, the better. I trust the DEC. The credentials of the opposition are open to question, suspicious.

The town cut down two large trees off my property and left me with 2 hideous stumps that I can notRead More afford to have removed. They said the trees need to come down they should remove the stumps it's well within their 10 feet, plus there was another tree that is on their "10" feet they refuse to take down.
WGMom May 22, 2013 at 09:59 am
How about the slew of fallen trees still laying on the ground in the woods at Woodglen Elementary?Read More Also still a number of trees that broke off at some point up their trunk still standing.

Even after reading FEMA's policy, I'm not completely clear why public tax dollars (which fund FEMA)Read More should pay for removal of a tree stump on private property. A link to FEMA's policy: http://www.fema.gov/9500-series-policy-publications/hazardous-stump-extraction-removal-eligibility

BET YOU A QUARTER May 23, 2013 at 05:14 am
Charles you are right about when ownership changes, but this different, it's about a contract fundedRead More by the FTA and they have rules that have to be followed if the county chooses to accept the funds. One of those rules is employee protection and any union contracts in effect at the time of transition.
Charles Clewsow May 22, 2013 at 09:10 pm
I am sure tbst you must be aware that as ownership changes in any organization, the risk of notRead More being retained increases. I have been through it more than once and, if handled correctly ( that means no Union whining), you will come out stronger for the experience. They can either take the job offered or not take it.Many folks are out of work and may br glad for the opportunity to work for a fine company like Brega.
BET YOU A QUARTER May 22, 2013 at 06:34 pm
It's all good unless you are one of the drivers that is left without a job. That is not what AmericaRead More is, and there were protections for the employees of the mass transit system that the FTA requires, but when lawyers are involved all bets are off...

Until the taxpaying citizens of Clarkstown find the moral fortitude to rid town hall of organizedRead More criminals, their money and their influence, nothing will ever change. It will be business as usual-dirty business that is.
the clowns running the tax defense that the PM is challenging forget a few basics..drive around theRead More PM on route 303 there are two properties that again are overgrown with grass over the 10 inch violation rules of property upkeep..Where are the code enforcers doing their jobs?? the PM will easlity win their tax certori..because even the areas around the place look like extention of the landfills..what is laughable are real state signs trying to promote rundown propertys....I would be embarrassed to have a sign on a overgrown property..and doesnt the town care????afterall you are in a battle to defend property vslues..and seriously no one is doing their job regarding the upkeep laws..seems out to lunch is a 24/7 thing in clowntown....also on parot road and brewery there is a house over grown with very high overgrowth..and ready? there are two houses for sale nearby!!like who will want to purchase anything when the town doesnt maintain its upkeep laws??I guess town employees must drive with very dark glasses because they dont see that well...yoo growmack..tell your code enforcers to get to work...
