Baseball Tournament Remembers FDNY Lt. Vincent Barone

The New City Generals today host a 9-and-under baseball tournament that is named in honor of a New York City firefighter who died in February.

The Lt. Vincent Barone 9U Memorial Tournament will feature traveling baseball teams from around the region from July 6 to 8.  Funds raised through the tourney will benefit a fund that was set up for the children of the late FDNY Lt. Barone, who after complications following surgery.

The tournament will be held at Nanuet High School, kicking off this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Broadway star Maya Day, a New City resident who played Mimi in the production of "Rent," is set to sing the national anthem.  

The family of Lt. Barone will also be on hand for this event.  

Games are also played at A. MacArthur Barr Middle School and George Miller Elementary School in Nanuet.
