More Snowy Weather Expected

Each day, Patch provides the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our five-bullet local dispatch.

1) Events:  The Rockland County Legislature meets at 7 p.m. and begins with a public hearing on “Best Value Award Methodology” for purchase contracts.  The legislature will vote on a request to amend the 2013 Capital Budget to include $3.6 million for replacement of the Samsondale Ave Bridge in West Haverstraw as a capital project. The bridge over the CSX Railroad tracks has been cited during state inspections for structural defects. The county would receive $2,164,000 in matching federal aid and is applying for other funding.

2) Events: Join the Nanuet Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party for holiday networking at Growler & Gill on Route 59. Free admission. A portion of the proceeds of sales of food and beverages will be donated to the chamber. The party begins at 7 p.m. More information on membership can be found here.

3) Weather: Winter Weather Advisory issued for snow between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Two to five inches is possible. There could also be periods of sleet or freezing rain with a high temperature of 28 degrees.

4) News: A piece about County Exec-Elect Ed Day asking the state Education Commissioner to make East Ramapo ditch its law firm was the most-read post on Patch yesterday.
