Albertus Magnus Girls Varsity Tennis Places 3rd in Pearl River Tournament
The Albertus Magnus Girls Varsity Tennis Team placed Third overall in the annual Pearl River HS tennis tournament. This is their best showing in the tournament in over five years. AM teams also received awards in singles and doubles categories.
The Albertus Magnus Girls Varsity Tennis Team placed Third overall at the annual Pearl River Tennis Tournament, which ran over the September 20th and 21st weekend at Pearl River High School. AM team members also received awards in the singles and doubles categories:
Second Place, First Singles: Sophomore, Katarina Lopez
Third Place, Second Singles: Senior, Katie Solesky
Third Place, Third Doubles: Juniors, Amber Pandya and Caroline Zemsky
Third Place, Fourth Doubles: Juniors, Liz Pappalardo and Nicole Costello
In addition to the Pearl River and Albertus Magnus teams, participants included teams from Tappan Zee, Nanuet, Nyack and East Ramapo high schools. According to tennis coach and Albertus alumna Caroline Gizzi, it was the Lady Falcon's best showing at the annual Pearl River tournament in over five years. The team accumulated 161 points, up from last year's total of 125 points.
Adding significantly to the overall win were: Senior Captain, Taylor Mormile, Juniors, Kristen Arendt, Kaitlyn Joong, and Brooke Strieter, and Sophomore, Jacklyn Onody. Rounding out the team's roster are Juniors, Amber Cosme and Emily Ferretti, and Freshman, Zoe Castelli.
Tappan Zee won with 195 points and Nyack garnered 182 points for second place.
