MI-BOX, in support of People to People, is opening up its headquarters in West Haverstraw for donations to Rockland’s needy. People are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys (for boys and girls ages 2-14), new or gently used coats, and various non-perishable food items to the MI-BOX office located at 8 Carol Avenue in West Haverstraw, NY. Items can be dropped off at the MI-BOX office Mondays-Fridays between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.  Those who have items to donate who cannot make it to the MI-BOX office during those hours are encouraged to call to make an appointment.

The toys and coats will help fill up People to People’s “Joy Store!” which provides new toys and clothing to area families. In particular, People to People needs new toys to give to boys and girls ages 2-14. Items such as soft toys, dolls, sports games, scrapbooks, art and craft kits, action figures, toy trucks, building games, musical and educational toys, and children’s books are always welcome. As winter is fast approaching, new coats, hats, and gloves are certainly needed. In addition to the clothing and toys, there is also still a great need for non-perishable food.

“Thanks to MI-BOX and all the generous donors we have, People to People will be providing turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for nearly 2,000 Rockland Families this year—that’s more than 4,500 people!” said Diane Serratore, Executive Director of People to People. “We are still looking for donations of various food items, including instant potatoes and stuffing, canned corn, string beans and sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and turkey gravy, Bisquick or cornbread mixes, pie crust mix and filling, and canned and bagged nuts.”

“We are confident Rocklanders will come out in high numbers and help us out again this year. We expect to deliver even more food, toys and coats than we did last year,” said Lauren Schroeder, Marketing Manager, MI-BOX. “Our goal is to deliver all the food to People to People the week before Thanksgiving so that everyone can have a festive holiday.”
