Nanuet Salon Participates in Locks of Love Event

Most have heard of or participated in Locks of Love, a non-profit organization providing hairpieces to children suffering from diagnoses leading to long-term medical hair loss.

Today’s Valentine’s Day and since February is the the month of love, several salons in the area are participating in Hudson Valley Hearts for Hair—a fundraising event for Locks of Love that is running from Feb. 5-25.

Participating salons will cut hair free of charge for Locks of Love. Hair has to be in a pony tail and measure 10 inches or more from the band. This isn’t the first time around for Nanuet’s .

“I’ve done it for five years,” said Owner Anthony Delia. “We love it because we see the transformation in people and they’re donating it to a good cause.”

Delia has owned the salon for 12 years and has a well-rounded staff for appointments or walk-ins six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday. 

“Locks of Love is a great program and I encourage everyone to give back to this amazing cause. I’m so proud to be able to be apart of this again,” he said. “All of my trained operators can work with kids, women, men and any type of hair.

There’s also coffee and fresh baked treats every day. Here’s a list of other participating salons in the Hudson Valley. (Please note: Salons will cut off your pony tail and even out the ends only. If you want a styling as well, the salons may charge for this.)

We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.
