Race For County Executive: The FOX against the Light of DAY

Don't let the FOX move in. It's a question of survival.

Rockland County is $100 Million in debt and we recently had a 30% tax increase and a 4% surcharge added to our electric bill. Guess who is running for County Executive?

Ilan Schoenberger, Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee, the very person who year after year was responsible for advancing flawed budgets from the County Executive, Scott Vanderhoef. These budgets continually overstated revenues to the chagrin of the Legislatures own Auditor whose warnings and recommendations were repeatedly ignored by Schoenberger.

To give you an indication of the Schoenberger Chutzpa, the budget included millions in revenue from red light cameras, which everyone knew we're not permitted by NYS because we did not have one million residents. Now Schoenberger wants to be County Executive? In other words, the FOX who was watching the house, now wants to move in.

There is some good news to report. Ed Day will be running against Schoenberger. Day was the strongest voice against these budgets since 2008 when the deficit was just $10 Million. It is now ten times that number. If Ed Days warnings were heeded, we would not be in this fiscal mess with the lowest bond rating of any County in NYS.

Make no mistake, Rockland County is bankrupt and the possibility looms for an even lower bond rating. Outside supervision of our financial affairs is inevitable. Putting Schoenberger, the man responsible for overseeing and time and time again advancing the very budgets that were responsible for our dire financial straights would be a travesty.

Don't let the FOX who was supposed to watch the house move into the house. It's the FOX against the light of Day. I am voting for Ed Day. It is a question of survival.
