Rockland, Orangetown, Relay For Life, American Cancer Society, volunteer, cancer

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Rockland County and Relay For Life of Orangetown are kicking off their 2013 events with meetings for individuals interested in getting involved.

The Relay For Life of Rockland County is hosting a kickoff on the evening of Wednesday, March 6 at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Nanuet, 425 East Route 59.  The Relay For Life of Orangetown will host a kickoff on Thursday, February 28 at 7 pm at the Pearl River Public Library.  The kickoffs are open to anyone with an interest in participating in one of these great events this June.  Those interested in attending should RSVP to the American Cancer Society at 845-440-2521 or e-mail Jen at jennifer.nulle@cancer.org.

Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society. It is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, to remember loved ones lost, and to empower others to fight back against a disease that impacts us all.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life raises awareness, while also raising funds to fight the disease.  The event unites friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, churches and people from all walks of life.  Teams fundraise and seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting cancer research and patient services.

Volunteers are currently needed for both events to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, coordinate logistics, plan activities and entertainment, and lend their support in any way.  If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Jen at jennifer.nulle@cancer.org or 845-440-2521.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
