Bronx Man Arrested For Possession Of Counterfeit Bills

Clarkstown Police arrested Vito Cerbone, 31, of the Bronx and charged him with 11 counts of possession of counterfeit bills on Monday.

According to police, Cerbone allegedly used counterfeit $20 bills for a $206 purchase at the Kohl’s store in Woodbury. He then went to the Kohl’s store in Nanuet to return the merchandise for cash. A loss prevention officer, who recognized Cerbone, contacted police who arrested him around 9 p.m.

Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said Cerbone was stopped in the parking lot and police found 11 counterfeit $20 bills in his possession. Additionally, police accused Cerbone of attempting to exchange five counterfeit $20 bills for a $100 bill at the Stop and Shop in Nanuet on Monday afternoon.  He was reported to have been unsuccessful.

Cerbone is awaiting arraignment in Clarkstown Justice Court on charges of 11 felony counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and misdemeanor charges of attempted petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
