D.A.: Gift Card with Stolen Credit Account Data Used at Florist

Spring Valley man charged with forgery.

A Spring Valley man has been charged with using a gift card encoded with stolen credit card account data to make a purchase at a local florist, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe.

Nicos Dinkins, 24, of 57 Hickory St., Spring Valley, has been arrested and arraigned on one count of second-degree forgery in connection with a July 2 incident.

Dinkins is accused of using a Visa gift card to purchase flowers from A. Dykstra Florist on Chestnut Ridge Road in Spring Valley. Zugibe said the gift card was encoded with stolen credit card account information and detectives from his office arrested Dinkins after a probe by the Rockland County Special Investigations Unit.

Dinkins was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court before the Judge Rhoda Schoenberger, who set bail at $10,000. Dinkins is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 13.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
