[VIDEO] Dog Rescued From House Fire In Nanuet

Home vacant at time of fire, no one injured.

A house fire on East Charles Street in Nanuet closed College Avenue south of Route 59 for more than an hour around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

A call was made about the fire, but fire investigators said they do not know the source of the call. The cause is still under investigation, said volunteer firefighter Harold Straut, a Nanuet fire commissioner.

"There was no on in the house except the dog. We got the dog out," said Straut. The dog is now with a neighbor."

Nanuet Fire Department members were at the house with Nanuet Ambulance Corps volunteers and members of Rockland Paramedics, although there were no injuries. Volunteer firefighters from Pearl River, South Spring Valley and West Nyack were on scene to assist.
