Hearing Postponed for Nanuet Man Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Cocaine in Vegetables

Miguel Betances, 60, of Nanuet, N.Y. and his alleged accomplice, Francisco Gonzalez, 50, of Manhattan, have been in jail since June 1st after being arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine in a shipment of vegetables, the Eagle Tribune reports

According to police, the two men were arrested after attempting to conceal and ship out 10 kilos of cocaine in a shipment of vegetables. The shipment was headed to the Dominican Republic via Florida. 

Police detectives intercepted the shipment and arrested the men. Detectives say the estimated street value of the drugs is $400,000. Bail has been set at $500,000 for each man.

Their new hearing date has been set for August 1st.
