Nanuet FD Quickly Puts Out House Fire (VIDEO)

There were no injuries as no one was in the residence

At 11:50 p.m. on Monday night, Nanuet Fire Department battled a fire on Terrace Avenue in Nanuet.

"The guys did a hell of a job and knocked down that fire in 15 minutes. They did an outstanding job," said Fire Chief AJ Knapp. "The fire started in the back of the house and we got to it before it spread to the attic."

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Clarkstown Fire Inspector Harold Straut. Pearl River and Spring Valley fire departments assisted and South Spring Valley FD were on call at the Nanuet fire house.

Nanuet EMS and Rockland Paramedics were also on scene. There were no injuries as no one was in the residence.

The back of the house including the walls, part of the roof and back patio sustained the most damage.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
