[UPDATE] Three Men Charged in Armed Home Invasion Robbery in Nanuet

Police: $3,000 recovered, along with two guns and a machete.

UPDATE (6 P.M.) - Two Bronx men and a Westchester man have been arrested in connection with an early-morning, armed home invasion robbery in which two people were tied up in a Nanuet apartment, according to Clarkstown Police.

The victims were not injured but $3,000 was taken in the robbery at about 2:35 a.m. Friday at 605 Maplewood Gardens. This evening, police said that in addition to making three arrests they have recovered the stolen cash and seized two handguns and a machete - with an estimated 14-inch blade.

The robbery, police said, took place when a male victim was walking to his apartment. He was approached by another man, who threatened him with a gun and forced his way into the apartment along with two other men.

The male victim and a woman also in the apartment were tied up with their hands behind their backs. The three attackers took the cash and fled on foot, police said.

However, police said witnesses spotted the three men and call 911. Clarkstown police officers responding to the emergency call found the men and arrested them after a short foot pursuit.

Arrested were:

- Zachary Johnson, 31, the Bronx

- Jose Hernandez, 24, Mount Vernon

- Ravindra George, 19, the Bronx

The are each charged with:

- First-degree robbery

- second-degree robbery

- first-degree burglary

- second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

- third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said the firearms seized in the arrests were a 9mm handgun and a .40 caliber handgun.

All three men arrested in connection with the robbery were awaiting arriangment in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.

The Clarkstown Police Department is currently investigating a possible home invasion which occurred at approximately 2:35 this morning at 605 Maplewood Gardens, Nanuet, said Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni.

Patch spoke to a woman in the management office at Maplewood Gardens, who said she had no comment and had not been contacted by any tenants nor the police.

Further information will be released as it becomes available.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
