Donations Needed for Nanuet Eagle Scout Project

This letter to the editor is from Michael Curry of Nanuet Boy Scout Troop 33. His eagle scout service project is to install an LED electronic display sign in front of Barr MS

My name is Michael Curry and I am a member of Nanuet Boy Scout Troop 33 currently working on my Eagle Scout Service Project. A requirement to become an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, is to perform a project for the benefit of the community.

My project will install an LED electronic display sign in front of the Nanuet A. MacArthur Barr Middle School. This will have a huge benefit for both the Nanuet Schools and the community. The sign will be clearly visible from Church Street in both directions. The sign will allow the School to broadcast important alerts, reminders, dates, and other messages for everyone to view. I believe that once it is completed, the sign will become a distinct landmark in our local area.

The new sign would replace the current letter-board sign presently in front of the Middle School. The new sign would have the ability to scroll through an unlimited amount of text, graphics, and animations whereas the existing sign can only display four lines of static black-on-white lettering. The information on the sign can be instantly updated with the latest news and announcements in a matter of minutes.

The project is currently seeking donations to raise the additional 3,800$ out of the 11,000$ total needed to purchase all the required materials. Individuals or groups who pledge 1000$ or more will have their name engraved onto a plaque that will be attached to the new sign. Anyone interested in donating or would like more information about the project should contact Michael Curry at troop33webmaster@gmail.com

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
