Highview Playground Gets A Sidewalk

A brand new sidewalk recently replaced the black asphalt walkway surrounding the Highview Playground. The sidewalk begins on Highview Avenue in front of the playground and goes around the corner of Church Street down the block to Middletown Road. Clarkstown Highway Superintendent Wayne Ballard said markings in front of the playground will be added for three parking spaces parallel to the road.

The work should be completed within the next few weeks. The sidewalk still has to be connected to the crosswalk from the Highview Elementary School. Ballard said Pro Cut Landscaping of West Nyack offered to install brick pavers between the crosswalk and playground entrance as part of its Adopt-A-Spot at the playground.  Crosswalk signals will also installed by the town’s contractor.

The popular playground sees steady use by Highview students and other Nanuet youngsters. The rebuilding of Highview Playground was a community effort undertaken in 2011.
