She will continue as president of the Nanuet School Board as she begins this new position.

On Feb. 3, the national nominating committee nominated her for the position of secretary treasurer on the National School Board. Since the date has passed for any other candidates to turn in an application (Feb. 24), Byrne is running unopposed and will be elected by the delegate assembly at the NSBA Convention in Boston on April 20 and will take office on April 23. The position is currently held by David Pickler.
