Snow Day again, Snow Day Make Up Date & Barr PTA Date Change

It's a race to the top in the box top challenge

The Nanuet Schools closed for another snow day one week after their other snow day last Wednesday. The make-up date for the Jan. 12 snow day Feb. 22. There’s another date change as well. The next meeting for the Barr Middle School PTA is moved from Feb. 24 to Feb 23. The meeting will still be at 7 p.m. in the Barr MS library.

On that note, here’s an update on the Barr MS PTA and their fundraising efforts thus far:

The Yankee Candle fundraiser was a huge success as they sold $11,000 worth of candles with only minimal mix-ups. The Dec. 8 Wendy’s fundraiser brought in $375 and there was very little effort needed on the PTA’s part.

Lastly, there’s a healthy, charitable dose of competition among the homeroom classes in the Box Top challenge. Box Tops  for Education is an easy way for schools to earn money simply by having their students and parents clip box tops, which are available on many common household items. The winning class gets a pizza party.

There were unexpectedly two eighth grade classes in the top three for this box top challenge as of Dec. 15. Here are the top three classes:
