Tonight: Author Psychologist to Speak on Teen Issues

The author presentation and book signing is on Monday, April 23: What Your Kids are In to and Up To & How to be a “Fingers on the Pulse” Parent. The information flyer is attached to this article

Does your teen have Facebook? Do you know if he or she is safe online? 11 is the new 14 and kids are experimenting and are exposed to sex, drugs and alcohol at earlier ages today, partly due to advance technology.

Arden Greenspan Goldberg, LSCW, BCD, is a nationally-known family psychotherapist and author and she's coming to Nanuet talk about some hot topics such as Technology, Bullying, Barbie and Man of Steel, Body Piercings and Tattoos, Sex, Drugs and Rock-N-Roll.

With the newer technologies that adolescents are immersed in, it's more important now that parents stay up to date on what actually goes on in their teenagers' lives.

"Teens, especially girls, they want to grow up so fast. The problem is that parents need to get their heads out of the sand, now more than ever," she said. "Every child is going to experiment and make mistakes. I want to help teach parents how to be an aerial parent."

She's speaking at a fundraiser hosted by the Nanuet Senior High School PTSA called: What Your Kids are In to and Up To& How to be a “Fingers on the Pulse” Parent.

The event is at 7 p.m. with refreshments and a book signing following at 8:30 p.m. on Monday April 23 at the Nanuet High School. It's open to parents, teachers and staff of Nanuet School District with an invitation extended to neighboring communities. The information flyer is attached to this article as a PDF.

It's $5 per seat and is payable by cash or check at the door. Her book will be available for purchasing at $14.99 per copy (while supplies last). You can reserve your seat(s) and/or book(s) by emailing your name(s) and phone to HSPTSA@yahoo.com.

“I'm going to talk about a range of topics, such as . There have been kids that have committed suicide. We have some serious issues here,” Greenspan-Goldberg said.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
