Pleasantville Holds Off Nanuet in Playoff Semifinals

Nanuet rallied late, but just couldn't catch up with the Panthers.

After a dominant first half, the Pleasantville High School football team led Nanuet High School, 16-0, Friday night in the Class B semifinal playoff matchup. Nanuet didn’t gain a first down all half and in total gained a little less than 20 yards while Pleasantville out-gained the Golden Knights by more than 200 yards. Nanuet didn’t score in the third or for most of the fourth but rallied late to score twice and trail by two.

In the end, Pleasantville held on for the 16-14 win at home Friday night, clinching a matchup with Our Lady of Lourdes next weekend for the Class B title. Pleasantville quarterback Anthony Godino threw two touchdowns, one to Owen Reda and the other to James Leyden. The Panthers (6-2) also converted two-point conversions on both scores, once when Patrick Bathon passed to Austin Greto out of a fake field goal and again when Godino connected with Enrico Ruotolo.

The Golden Knights (5-3) got on the board in the fourth when Pete Smith ran one in from short with 2:33 to go. Matt Henry recovered the ensuing onside kick, leading to a touchdown from quarterback Matt Carney to Cody Fitzgerald. Carney ran in the two-point conversion, and generally took over the game in the fourth, running for big gains on multiple drives and gaining a combined 150-plus yards himself in the fourth.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
