Two Nanuet Knights Advance To County

At the semifinals in the League Tournament on Wednesday, Quill won the Singles Title, 6-0, 6-0.

Kevin Quill and Anthony Pelio are both advancing to the Tennis Singles Conference Tournament on May 17 & 18 at Clarkstown South after the Wednesday semifinals of the League 4B Boys Tennis Tournament. At Conference, they'll go up others from around the county.

This is Pelio's first time participating in this tournament and Quill made it to the first round of Sections last year.

On Tuesday, the first day of the League tournament, Quill beat Satawa of Nyack 6-0, 6-1 and Pelio beat Matt Zebiak of Tappan Zee 6-4, 7-5, allowing both Nanuet boys to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday. At the semifinals, tourney favorite Quill won the Singles Title, 6-0, 6-0.

Both singles and doubles play could advance up to eight players or teams into conference play.  There were only four competitors in the singles competition so the entire field will move on.

Pearl River and Nyack each placed two doubles teams in the semifinals of the League 4B Boys Tennis Tournament after the opening rounds of competition at Pearl River High School.

Nineteen teams from the League Tournament narrowed down to eight quarterfinalists advancing to the Conference Tournament on May 17 & 18 at Clarkstown South. The top three singles players and top three doubles teams from that meet will go on to the Section 1 Tournament at Ardsley. After that, it's off to State.

  • Marinucci and Mike Mihovics

Tappan Zee

  • Jewel and Kotch
