Nanuet Rotary Recognizes Long-time Member Bill Curry on his Last Day

Bill Curry has been a Nanuet Rotarian for over 44 years and is moving to Westchester County to be closer to his son Michael.

Yesterday's Nanuet Rotary Club meeting was "Bill Curry Day." The club presented Willian (Bill) Curry with a plaque in recognition of his many years of service. Curry has been a Sergeant of Arms for the club since 1966 and is now saying his goodbyes to move across the bridge to Westchester County to be closer to his son Michael. Francis Mascola and Roger Gong have been in the club as long as Curry has.

At the end of each meeting, everyone donates a sad or happy buck into a box for a thought, memory or recent happening. Mascola gave a happy buck for Curry and raised the dollar over the box smiling and said, "We made it."

Gong gave his happy buck saying that Curry is always welcomed back.

"You come and visit us as much as you can," Gong said. He laughed and added, "I'll pick you up!"

John Mairoano gave his happy buck for Curry as well saying, "Bill Curry, you'll always be with us in spirit."

Chris O'Rourke gave his happy buck for the dedication Curry's left behind.

"The 26 years I've been in the club, the one thing that has been consistent is Bill," O'Rourke said. "The fact that he has been, without fault, the continuity of this club."
