Saturday: Get Out For A Good Cause

There are several benefit events this weekend

The weather forecast is looking good despite the storm watch warnings yesterday. Take advantage of this sunny Saturday and participate in one of these causes:

  • Where: 150 Convent Rd, Nanuet Family Recourse Center Gym, Nanuet (formerly St. Agatha’s Gym)
  • Time: 1 – 5 p.m.
  • What: Nanuet Cub Scout Pack 233 will be having a Yard Sale to benefit the Pack. Donations can be dropped off at George Miller School Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. or Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Gym.
  • Where: 1 Blue Hill Plz, Pearl River, NY 10965
  • Time: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
  • Who: Energized Rockland families, companies and volunteers dedicated to giving babies a healthy start
  • What: “In addition to the 5-mile walk, other festivities include DJ, Arcade 2 Go, the Peak Street Team, WHUD family fun, Child ID, Casa Mia Manor, Vision Sports Club and Applebees.
  • The Rockland March for Babies brings together families, companies and volunteers all raising money so that our babies are born happy and healthy. Moms can rely on March of Dimes for everything they need to know about having a healthy baby before, during and after pregnancy.”

  • Where: Rockland Lake State Park—299 Rockland Lake Rd, Valley Cottage
  • Time: Check-in is at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • What: The scenic three-mile route will take participants around Rockland Lake with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Coffee and bagels at the start line and a rest stop with beverages and a snack along the route.
  • Exciting finish line festival with music, informational and interactive booths, a sponsor expo, kids zone. The finish line festival is fully accessible. Recognition areas for top fundraising teams and individuals.
  • Price: Parking is $8 and adjacent to the event site. Online registration is closed so newcomers need to go to the “New Registration” table.

  • Where: , 430 Nanuet Mall S, Nanuet and then The Club House Bar & Grille, 191 South Main St, New City
  • Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • What: Lung cancer matters…Nobody deserves it…And you do not have to smoke to get it! Lung cancer kills more people than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney, and melanoma cancers combined. Yet, it receives a fraction of the attention and research funding. We are fighting to change this.
  • The motorcycle ride is followed by a celebration of life at 1 p.m. at The Club House Bar & Grille (191 South Main St, New City). Mention to your server that you came out to support our efforts and The Club House will donate 20 percent back to The Joan Gaeta Lung Cancer Fund benefiting the Addario Lung Cancer Medical Institute
    Donations are also welcomed.

  • Where: Congers VMA, 65 Lake Road, Congers
  • Time: 10 a.m. –  4 p.m.
  • What: This tag sale is to support Anna, a young girl who has Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrom (RSD). “I want to help people like me who have lots of pain, which is why I am raising money to help with research and treatments for RSD,” she said.
  • At the Tag Sale, there will be toys, books, clothes, household items as well as food and festivities. All proceeds will benefit RSDS Association

  • Time: 12 noon to 2 p.m.
  • Celebrate Earth Day - Recycle - Prevent ID Theft! Bring your unwanted documents, personal papers, financial papers, etc. to Sound Concept Nanuet on Saturday.  (Directly across from McDonalds). Hosted by Clarkstown PBA and Sound Concept Nanuet, Camp Venture will have a mobile shredding truck on site where your documents will be shredded and a certificate of destruction will be provided. 
  • A donation of $15 for up to (3) boxes is requested, then $4/box.
