What: The fete will include a cultural program, displays from the local community, several vendors, Indian food and a carnival for kids.

Hi Tor Animal Care Center Cat Adoption Event

When: Saturday, August 17, 11 a.m.

Where: Hi Tor Animal Care Center, 65 Firmen's Memorial Dr., Pomona

What: Rockland's marquee animal shelter is holding a special feline adoption shindig.

Cost: Two kittens for $150; cats 1-5 yrs. $60; cats 5+ yrs. $25

Family Nature Program at the HSRC

When: Sunday, August 18, 3:00 p.m.

Where: 20 Zukor Road, New City

What: An afternoon of live animals and nature activities; participants will learn interesting facts about local animals including common misconceptions and folk tales. 

Cost: Free

First Annual Walk for the Animals

When: Sunday, August 18 7:30 a.m.

Where: Rockland Lake State Park

What: Pet-lovers from the Hudson Valley and elsewhere in the Tri-State  regionwill be converging for the first annual Walk for the Animals to benefit the ongoing efforts to rebuild the Hi Tor Animal Shelter.

Cost: $30 donation per person
